Thai Yoga Massage based on the Traditional Thai Massage (TTM) originated in India and was brought to Thailand more than two thousand years ago as part of the spiritual practice of Buddhism. Having developed together with Traditional Thai Medicine, it contains elements of Yoga, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. From the perspective of Traditional Thai Medicine, the body's health is sustained through a balance of the elements: earth (bones, muscles, organs), water (all bodily fluids),fire (body temperature, metabolic and catabolic processes), wind (breath and circulation processes)
The massage works to loosen blocks and relieve tensions by pressing and stretching the component points of the fundamental energy lines, which map the energy body's structure onto the physical. Thai Massage leads from the feet to the head through different posititions including the whole body. It is conducted on a comfortably padded floor mat. This insures quality application by providing the massage therapist with the comfort and security to use the hands, fingers, thumbs, palms, elbows, arms, knees and feet, accordingly. Massage methods include punctual pressure, surface circling, sliding, rolling, rotating, gently pulling the joints as well as lightly bouncing and hitting body surfaces and stretching body parts. Dynamic Movements as soft pulling/ stretching of joints and rocking of the body are used as a special element for loosening the body.
In this way the flow of energy throughout the body can be restored, stimulating blood circulation and body detoxification, as well as assisting the nervous system in secreting endorphins. These results relieve pain and have a positive effect on the body's general well-being. The massage is in that way comparable to a dance-duo, where the receiver can stay in a completly passive role.
